The Youth Education Scholarship Fund (YES Fund), is an independent non-profit organization, whose purpose is to provide College Scholarships to deserving high school graduates. By supporting outstanding seniors who are motivated and deserving, the YES Fund provides assistance to students based on academic excellence, community service and demonstrated financial need. Scholarships awarded help to defray the cost of books, room and board, tuition and other college expenses.
The YES Fund was first established by Paul DeSilva, President of DCI/DeSilva Communications, Inc., as a vehicle to raise awareness and suppport for local high school students in their efforts to fund their college education. "There are far too many academically talented young people who are entering the work force at minimum wage ( upon graduating high school), simply because their families cannot support their dreams and aspirations of entering college."
To stimulate increased support for this cause, DeSilva established the City Golf Championship Series through DCI/DeSilva Communications, Inc. The City Golf Championship is the single largest Amateur Golf Tournament held in the City. The weekend Championship is a promotional golfing event designed to promote the game of golf, provide players with a fun, competitive sporting event, raise Scholarship Funds for local High School Students and engage the local business community to promote their products and services by supporting the Tournament. Golfers of ALL levels are invited to play in this major City Wide Championship Golf Tournament. The citywide golf tournament is held in each major city with the minimum goal of raising atleast one $500 scholarship for a deservinghigh school graduate in that city.
With the economic challenges facing todays families, the YES Fund strives to maintain its goals by:
• Identifying and honoring academically talented high school students
• Stimulate increased support for their education
• Provide an efficient scholarship program to assist students with their undergraduate study.
